Dry needling is a treatment technique that is derived from Eastern Medicine Acupuncture and developed with scientific based evidence of Western Medicine. It is widely used for the treatment of muscle tightness or spasm and often in chronic pain.
As the name suggests, dry needling is the placement of a fine gauge needle into a trigger point (the knot in the muscle) to elicit a twitch response.
As the needle is solid, there is nothing injected into the body, rather the changes in the muscle tightness and pain occur due to the changes in the neural system, known as the needle effect.

Running Gait Analysis
Running and jogging is one of the most popular and practiced sports worldwide. Running up to 20 miles a day helps you live longer. This said, the number of runners sustaining an injury is high, between 30-70%,amounting to 3-4 injuries a year. Many of these injuries are due to training error or poor running technique.
At Mid Kerry Physiotherapy your running technique can be analysed on the treadmill, recorded and watched back in slow motion to enable greater assessment of your running gait.
Your gait may need to be adapted, certain body areas may need strengthening or stretching, depending on the findings to enable you to run to your best capacity.
